A Note from Our Executive Director - Community Support Makes Recovery Possible.

Every day at Safe Harbor Peer Support Services, we have the privilege of seeing what can happen when people have a safe place to turn, someone who understands, and a community that believes recovery is possible.

Our Outreach Centers provide welcoming, peer-led environments for adults navigating mental health and substance use challenges. Through peer support, recovery-focused groups, educational opportunities, social connection, wellness activities, and connections to community resources, we help individuals build relationships, develop skills, and continue moving forward on their recovery journey.

These services do not happen without strong community partnerships and critical funding support.

Safe Harbor is grateful for the ongoing support and funding we receive from the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health & Recovery Services Board and the ADAMH Board of Crawford & Marion Counties. Their investments in community-based mental health and recovery services help make it possible for Safe Harbor to provide peer support, programming, resources, and welcoming spaces across the communities we serve.

In Delaware and Morrow counties, funding from the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health & Recovery Services Board supports the services and programming offered through our Outreach Centers. In Marion and Crawford counties, support from the ADAMH Board of Crawford & Marion Counties is helping Safe Harbor expand access to peer support and recovery-focused services in those communities.

The impact of this funding can be seen in much more than numbers. It can be seen when someone walks through our doors for the first time and realizes they are not alone. It is there when a Peer returns week after week because they have found connection, routine, and purpose. It is present in a group where people learn new coping skills, in a shared meal that creates conversation, and in the encouragement one person in recovery can offer another.

Local funding for mental health and recovery services has a direct impact right here in our communities. It helps organizations like Safe Harbor provide places where individuals can receive support before, during, and throughout their recovery journey. It strengthens a network of services that connects people with resources, reduces isolation, encourages recovery, and helps individuals build healthier and more independent lives.

As an organization, our role is not to tell our community how to vote. Our responsibility is to help people understand the services available to them and to be transparent about the partnerships and funding that make those services possible. We encourage everyone to learn about the mental health and recovery resources available in their community and to become informed about how these important services are funded.

We are incredibly thankful for the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health & Recovery Services Board, the ADAMH Board of Crawford & Marion Counties, and all of our community partners, donors, volunteers, staff, and supporters. Together, these partnerships allow Safe Harbor to continue providing places where people can find help, hope, connection, and support.

At Safe Harbor, we see the value of community-based mental health and recovery services every single day. We see it in the lives being changed, the relationships being built, and the hope that grows when people know they do not have to face recovery alone.

Where there is HELP, there is HOPE.
