Healthy Eating on a Budget at Annie’s Outreach Center

There’s always something delicious cooking at Annie’s Outreach Center!

Through our partnership with OSU Extension Delaware County, our Peers have been enjoying the Healthy Eating and Cooking on a Budget Series with Kyna. This hands-on program is about much more than preparing a meal—it gives our Peers practical skills and ideas they can use at home to make nutritious, affordable meals while making the most of their grocery budget.

During a recent class, Peers prepared a flavorful Tuna Pot Pie, proving once again that eating healthy on a budget doesn’t mean sacrificing taste! Participants have the opportunity to learn about ingredients, meal preparation, nutrition, and simple ways to create satisfying meals without spending a lot.

Programs like this provide valuable life skills, education, social connection, and confidence while giving our Peers a fun opportunity to work together and, of course, enjoy the finished meal!

We are incredibly grateful to Kyna and OSU Extension Delaware County for bringing this series to Annie’s and for investing their time and expertise in the individuals we serve. Community partnerships like this help Safe Harbor provide meaningful experiences that support wellness, independence, and recovery.

Good food, practical skills, and community connection are a great recipe for building healthier, stronger communities—together!
