Transportation is available. Just let us know in advance if you need a ride to and/or from one of the centers.
We serve adults 18 and older.
Lunch is served daily.
Actively engaged in recovery.
We want to hear from you
We value the strong partnerships that help drive our mission forward, and your perspective is important to us. We invite our community partners to take a few minutes to complete our annual survey and share your feedback. Your input helps us strengthen our collaboration, improve our services, and better support the community we serve.
Thank you for your time and continued partnership! Begin the survey.
Where to find us
In partnership with the ADAMH Board of Crawford-Marion Counties, we are thrilled to bring a peer support drop-in center to the Marion community. This new space is dedicated to providing connection, support, and hope to individuals on their recovery journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
“People don’t always need advice. Sometimes all they really need is a hand to hold, an ear to listen, and a heart to understand them.”

What will I experience during my first visit?
You will be warmly greeted and introduced to staff and members and given a tour of the building. Staff will sit down with you (1) to get to know you, (2) to ask what needs or services you are interested in, and (3) to share the Center’s upcoming program activities with invitation for you to attend.
Safe Harbor does not offer counseling or other clinical services, but instead offers peer support and other evidence-based programs. You can meet individuals who might share similar experiences and could offer insight and support for whatever steps you are taking towards your own recovery.
What is peer support? Is it counseling or therapy?
Peer Support is emotional support that is based on a common experience. In our case, it is support based on common lived experience of mental health and/or addiction challenges. It is not counseling, nor therapy. It is not treatment, nor is it clinical assessment. You do not need a formal diagnosis to attend.
Peer support is not advice-driven. Rather, peer support is a ‘fellow traveler’ approach to mental health and addiction care. Facilitators and participants’ peers share parts of their journey/story - what it’s like for them, what has and has not worked for them - in creating the life they want. Mutual relationships are created and nurtured, isolation and stigma are decreased, and a sense of community and self-empowerment are built.
What are Peer Support Services?
Our services, including the majority of our groups, are available to people who are 18 years of age and older, who live in the Delaware/ Morrow Counties area, and who also identify as living with mental health condition and/or substance use disorder.
We ask that all participants review our Peer Handbook when accessing services (PDF, 643 KB).
Safe Harbor members and peers welcome all and understand their struggles because they have walked in their shoes.
